I am a biologist graduated from the UNAM, the National Autonomous University of Mexico. I continued my studies with an MSc in Forest and Nature Conservation and a PhD in Forest Ecology at Wageningen University in The Netherlands. After postdoctoral fellowships in Israel, the U.S. and Panama, I have started my own lab where, together with my students, we continue the journey of scientific discovery.

Hilario studied Biology at the University of Panama and was granted a scholarship by the Panamanian Government and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to study an MSc in Crop Protection at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany. He is now following his interest in Plant Pathology and Ecology conducting PhD studies in our project Biotic interactions in a changing world.

I graduated with a BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, conducting research on food web dynamics in ephemeral pond communities. I spent the following 3 years as a field botanist and stream hydrologist with the US Forest Service, supporting a long-term habitat monitoring program. I am currently pursuing an MSc in Evolutionary and Environmental Biology. My project investigates how 20 native plant species contribute to ecosystem services in riparian buffer zones, with the goal to guide how plant species are implemeted into future conservation projects in Israel. Additionally, I love learning and working with other people working with people, so I am always excited to help everyone in and around our lab with their projects.

Vanessa, graduated in Geography and Environmental Studies from the State University of New York (SUNY) in the USA, is conducting her MSc in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology working on resprouting strategies of species of the Eastern Mediterranean Maquis. Spencer, with a BSc degree in Ecology and Evolution from the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) in the USA, is conductiong his MSc in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology working with us on the impacts of resprouting on vegetation recovery.

Hi, I'm Kira, 25 years old. I was born and grew in Almaty, Kazakhstan and at age 18 I moved to Israel. Currently I'm doing my first degree in biology in Haifa University, and I'm working on a project that is related to the connection between functional traits and regeneration strategies of 8 species of trees of the Mediterranean Maquis.
I love nature and animals, especially cats =) I have 3 at home. I also like traveling and learning new things. |

As a senior Biology student in our department Irina conducted her final-year study on analyzing the impacts of burning and clear cutting on the frequency of resprouters in Mediterranean shrublands. As part of our program for research-oriented students, Shilat conducted her BSc final-year study on species resprouting responses in our Fire disturbance and the persistence niche project.
